Performance Caution - Network Backup

The network backup can run when other users are logged in to EXACT, but will have a severe negative performance impact on EXACT if those users are still working. It is strongly recommended that network backups be performed only when EXACT is not being used by other users (for example, by means of scheduling automated network backups for after business hours).

From v12.7 onwards EXACT warns users who opt to start a network backup on EXACT exit while more than one other user is still working:

There are # users still logged in to EXACT. A network backup will significantly impact performance for these users. Are you sure you want to run a network backup now?

Optionally use IMAP protocol for incoming Email

EXACT has historically used the POP protocol for Email, but from v12.7 your dental practice can optionally enable the IMAP protocol for incoming Email.

Quick Chart Menu enhancements

Providers can chart Quick Plans directly from the Quick Chart Menu, as they have historically done with Services. On upgrade EXACT assigns default Quick Plan icons but these are customisable.

The Quick Chart can be customisable with editable.

To standardise in the practice, or simply to save time, there is now functionality to replicate one Provider Quick Chart Menu to another Provider. For a new practice you can create once and then replicate to all Providers, who can then optionally customise their own Quick Charts.

Offline Help

Offline Help to be a manual download from EXACT v12.8

Historically the Offline Help has been included within each EXACT software upgrade.

However, there are now reasons to make the Offline Help an optional download:

• Few practices still use Offline Help; EXACT practitioners overwhelmingly use Online Help only.

  - and -

• The Offline Help deliverable has grown to an unwieldy 1 GB in size, which burdens the EXACT downloads.

Consequently, from EXACT v12.8 onwards, if you wish to use Offline Help, please refer to the Support Desk, who will point you to a download link for the Offline Help software, and explain the procedure.
