Troubleshooting an EXACT Workstation installation

To troubleshoot an EXACT Workstation installation if there is a problem

In order to better diagnose and report back any issues that occur with an EXACT deployment here are the elements of a successful EXACT Workstation installation.

EXACT executables

Check that EXACT executables are located in <target folder> (by default C:\Program Files*\Software of Excellence\EXACT)

WSexecutables

Folders

These folders should be located in <target folder> (by default C:\Program Files*\Software of Excellence\EXACT):
bitmaps

Windows service to poll the Workstation update

Windows services can be monitored through Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services

The SoeiDental.WorkstationUpdatePoller Windows service should be installed and set to start on system startup.

Target systems registry

The following keys should be in the target systems registry:

Windows Firewall Exceptions

Exceptions can be managed and seen from Control Panel > Windows Firewall > Exceptions Tab.

Five Windows Firewall Exceptions should be present:

Uninstalling

warning IMPORTANT!

If you install the workstation with a missing component, you will have to run the uninstall option, then run install again with that component in place. Simply re-running the installation will not necessarily replace the missing component!

If you need to uninstall EXACT, you MUST always uninstall the workstation(s) before uninstalling the server software.
