Creating a new Query

Overview

Create a new query either from the List Query Templates screen as described below, or from the Select Patients field wherever it is used in EXACT:

You can create any number of queries for your practice requirements, but typical queries would be:

To create a new Query from the Configure menu

  1. Select Configure > Patient Query Templates...

  2. The List Query Templates screen displays:

  3. Click the +1 button to display the Add Query Template window:

  4. Type a Description for this Query template.

    We'll use a "Birthday" example for a Birthday Reminder template.

  5. Select b_InsertUsers to open a Select Condition list. Select the condition (Birthday in our example) and press OK:

  6. In the resulting Edit patient Selection window, configure the query date range, in this example to find Patients with a birthday in the coming week.

    Prompt for entries checkbox:

    If this box is checked, every time this query template is used a window will open to prompt the query template user to specify data such as a date or date range.

    TIP: Check (tick) this whenever entering a date range as this will enable a user to change the dates each time the report is run.

  7. Select OK to return to the Add Query Template window.

    AND/Or:

    You have the option of adding further patient selection conditions by means of AND / OR and b_InsertUsers, which provides for great flexibility in your query definition.

    The AND/OR options are well documented online, but as a summary:

  8. If you make a mistake in entering a patient selection condition you can:
  9. After you have finished and exited the query template creation, open the List Query Templates screen to check that your Query has been added to the list.
