Usually if a button is currently unavailable or inactive it will be greyed out: , and so non-functional (normal state:
).
Some reasons for a button being greyed out:
There have been no changes made to the current record
Example: In the Patient file, no changes have been made since you opened the current patient's record, or you have saved any changes that were made. The Save button will therefore be greyed out.
There is no data available
Example: In the appointment book, the appointment time you have clicked into has no appointment information, so the patient tool buttons are inactive:
Note that the Print List and Configure buttons are still active, as their functions are not dependent on data being present in the current appointment.
The button is available only when a certain option is selected
Example: In the Patient Notes dialog, the Pop-up Options button is inactive until the Pop-up Note checkbox is ticked:
Equipment required for the operation is not connected or is not turned on
Example: In the Patient Contacts tab, if EXDOC is not registered, there is no button displayed.
If EXDOC is registered, but the scanner is not configured or is not turned on, the button is displayed but will be greyed out:
In this case, the Source button is also greyed out, as the currently highlighted document is not one that was scanned into EXACT.
