SMS Update

1. Software of Excellence is now able to provide SMS services directly, rather than just through 'third party' providers. The advantages of this are that we can offer additional functionality to users, including scheduled SMS delivery; being able to show the delivery status of SMS messages sent; an easily tracked credits scheme to pay for SMS usage; special rates for bulk purchase of SMS credits; and being able to send Flash messages as well as plain text messages.

   On some cellphones a Flash message will appear on the screen immediately upon arrival, without the need to press any buttons on the phone. This is a useful alternative to normal SMS to catch the recipient's attention. The recipient has the option of 'saving' the Flash SMS to their Inbox.

2. A special section in the "Email Parameters" configuration menu item allows you to set up all the SMS parameters.
3. The Configure menu now has a new menu item called "SMS Templates", to enable you to configure your SMS message templates.
   In addition, if your SMS provider is Software of Excellence, the screen will show you how many remaining SMS credits you have with Software of Excellence.

   If you previously had email templates set up to send SMS appointment reminders, the V10.4 upgrade process will create new SMS templates with the same name and details as your 'old' email templates.

4. Everywhere in EXACT where there is an email button to enable you to send an email message, there is now also an SMS button, so that you may send an SMS message (such as an appointment reminder to a patient).

   Important Note:
   If your practice connects to the Internet via a proxy server, you may need to edit your EXACT configuration files to ensure proper SMS operation.
